Tibet to have 400,000 job seekers in 2010

2/2/2010

Tibet will have 400,000 job seekers in 2010, according to the Tibet Autonomous Regional Human Resources and Social Security Department.

Yao Ruifeng, director of the department, said, "Since Tibet's labor-intensive industries are underdeveloped and urbanization is low, we can provide a limited number of jobs."

"Moreover, due to the global financial crisis, some of Tibet's enterprises have plunged into troubles, increasing the employment pressure," he added.

To help local residents find jobs, the department will extend the implementation of the policy to stabilize Tibet's employment rate through to the yearend, including offering subsidies to more enterprises and increasing subsidies.

Holding training courses is regarded as an effective way to help the job seekers get jobs. In line with its own conditions, Tibet will compile training textbooks on the Tibetan-style painting later this year as part of its efforts to enhance the Tibetans' skills with ethnic features.

Meanwhile, Tibet plans to train 20,000 people this year and promote the use of distance training.
